These under kitchen sink organization ideas will have you smiling each time you open the cabinet door! The best part is, from Dollar Tree to Walmart, these finds are all super budget friendly!
Our under the sink cabinet has become one of those spaces I dread opening when guests are over. Between an old, worn-out liner, damaged paint, and a trash can that was scraping everything up, it was not cute.
(Please excuse the quality of these photos! When I was completing this under the sink makeover, I was taking a video, and these are frames from that video!)

But with an afternoon, a little paint, and some budget-friendly finds from Target Dollar Spot, Dollar Tree, and Walmart, I transformed the space into something I actually love opening now.
And the best part? The whole makeover was fast, affordable, and super satisfying!
Clear It Out & Start Fresh
The first thing I did was pull everything out of the cabinet. Once it was empty, I stripped off the old contact paper that had definitely seen better days. We had damage from where our trash can had been scraping in and out, so I patched, painted, and caulked that area.
Add a Floral Contact Paper Liner
This was probably my favorite part, I used a moody floral peony contact paper I found on Amazon (and it’s so affordable!).

The bold pattern on this wallpaper makes me smile every time I open the cabinet, and it instantly transforms the dark dingy sink cabinet!

Rub n’ Buff the Ugly Pipe
When it came to the big white, I had a crazy idea. I’ve been rub ‘n buffing everything else in the house, why not this giant pipe? I grabbed my trusty Rub ’n Buff and went to town turning it gold. It’s not perfect (a Q-tip would have helped in the little crevices), but honestly, it looks even better than I hoped, and now blends in with the rest of the space.

Add Fresh Recycling & Trash Solutions
For recycling, I wanted a basket, but I had to find one just the right size. I actually found a basket at Goodwill that I loved, but it didn’t fit. Instead, I grabbed a perfectly sized basket from Walmart!
We also purchased a new trash can from Walmart and added adhesive casters from Amazon to the bottom. The wheels make it easy to slide out without scraping the cabinet. These things are great, I also used them on the bottom of our Kitchen Aid!
You can also order a fancier built-in trash holder that slides, but with our cabinet’s odd shape and rough condition, this was a simple and affordable solution that works just as well for us!

Add Door Storage with Hooks & Baskets
Under kitchen sink organization is all about maximizing a tight space! On the inside of the door, I added gold command-hook style hooks from Amazon and hung two Dollar Tree baskets for sponges and magic erasers.

I also used a gold adhesive clip to hold my cleaning gloves on the door next to the baskets. In the past, I used a curtain clip on a command hook, but I find this works much better!

Organize with Baskets & A Shelf Riser
This clear shelf riser from the Target Dollar Spot made all the difference! It stacked storage to double my space!
On the bottom: two black Dollar Tree wire baskets for dish pods and cleaning rags.

On top: my large white cleaning caddy (also from Target Dollar Spot) that holds all my daily essentials. The riser made it so easy to keep everything within reach without feeling cluttered.

The Final Result
This makeover didn’t take much time, but it completely transformed how I feel about this cabinet. Everything has a place, it’s functional, and it’s pretty! I’ll no longer be embarrassed when someone asks where the trash can is. Honestly, I might even show it off now!

If you’ve been putting off tackling your under the sink cabinet, I can’t recommend it enough. A few affordable finds and a little creativity can make such a big difference!

FAQs About Under Kitchen Sink Storage & Organization
How do I maximize space under a small sink?
Use vertical storage like shelf risers, stackable bins, tiered shelves, or a tension rod to hang cleaning bottles. This keeps items off the bottom and gives you extra space!
How do I keep under sink storage from getting messy again?
I always ask myself this very question so I chose to include it in this FAQ! Choose easy to access containers or pull-out drawers so everything is easy to put away, and has a forever “home.” Labeling bins can keep the system easy to maintain!
How do I organize under a sink with pipes in the way?
Opt for adjustable organizers or baskets that fit different height availability! U-shaped shelves, tiered pull out units for the edges, or modular bins that fit around plumbing will often work better instead of trying to force one big organizing unit!
